The brief

This old farmhouse had been neglected and left empty for a couple of years. The interior was extremely damp and both inside and outside were in very poor condition.

What we did

Following listed building consent, a complete renovation was undertaken and inappropriate materials were removed. A flagstone kitchen floor was discovered, repaired and repointed in lime mortar. Externally, cement pointing was removed, stonework repaired and repointed in lime mortar, chimneys repaired, the roof re-felted and battened, and plastic guttering replaced with timber and cast iron.

The result

A characterful, dry and properly restored home, sympathetically returned to its traditional materials and appearance.
